We all have a responsibility to protect the environment and no one is more aware of that than an experienced cottager.
For you newbies, here are some tips to minimizing your footprint in cottage country.
1) Leave as much brush and standing dead trees around your property as possible. In other words, go easy on trying to make your entire property look like your home in the city.
Let them stand, unless they pose a safety hazard or they are a complete eyesore; if felled, leave them on the ground to decay, providing another source of food and habitat for creatures such as salamanders and chipmunks.
